Saving and reusing beats
What do I do with a beat once I have made it?
A pattern is temporary until you save it
What you build in the grid and record live is one working pattern. It is not saved. Loading another beat or pressing Clear replaces it. The Beats menu is where you save a pattern.
Save stores the current pattern as a named beat that belongs to the kit. When you open the sampler later, its beats come with it. Any mix you built while sequencing is saved onto the beat too, so it plays back the way you made it.
What you can do with a saved beat
- Play it. Tap a beat to play it, which makes it easy to compare takes.
- Loop it. Keep a beat looping while you shape the pads it uses.
- Edit it. Load a saved beat back into the grid, change it, and save it again. Editing stops playback and switches the loop off, so Start and Stop drive what you just loaded.
- Duplicate it. Copy a beat and change the copy, keeping the original.
- Delete it. Remove a beat you no longer need.
Queueing beats one after another
The clock button queues beats to play one after another in the order you choose. Press Start to play the queue and Stop to end it. This turns a list of loops into an arrangement: intro, verse, fill, verse. It is the closest thing here to a song mode.
Where beats live
Beats belong to a sampler and are saved when the sampler is saved, which needs an account. Signed out, a beat lasts as long as the tab.
A published kit includes its beats. Anyone who opens your kit from a link gets the pads and the beats you made with them.
